THE BOX
The
first noticeable thing about the TechniSat Cam 1 Plus it's it weight. The box
is very light, yet it feels solid and robust. At the front of the receiver we
have a four digit numeric display hidden under fashionable dark plastic to the
left together with the power on button and a well-fitted flap covering CI slots
and operation buttons to the right.
The design of Cam 1 Plus is common for the series, so for example upon opening
the panel a user can find an empty slot for embedded card readers just like
other models are fitted with.
At
the rear of the receiver we have two SCARTs, RF input and loop through, c-inch
type analog audio out, digital SPDiF optical output and 9pin D-SUB RS323 serial
port for software updates and data transfer. The characteristic thing about
TechniSat Cam 1 Plus is that unlike the majority of boxes on the market it has
only one F connector for LNBF and doesn't provide loop through should you require
an extra device to be provided with access to the same dish.
In case of the remote control TechniSat didn't follow the latest market trends
and provided its box with a simple and plain device with clearly marked functions.
As much as the remote wouldn't win Salvatore Dali's reward it has to be said
it matches the overall design of the box and using it was like driving Volkswagen
Golf on the motorway - easy and fast. Most of the buttons in constant use are
positioned in the same area giving your thumb a rest throughout browsing and
IR beam of the remote is so wide we could operate this box from anywhere around
the house including bouncing the signal from the hallway. Well done.
TechniSat TechniBox Cam 1 Plus is also available in stylish silver.
