Turned out to be everything I hoped for.
Running Hydra Phoenix 1.09 in Flash as the OS. Allows the built in card reader to emulate Irdetto for legitimate card to be used.
Brilliant OSD and easy to use remote control. SCART outputs component video, hence HD displays a breeze to connect to.
Tunes to Optus B3 / C1 (The only ones I tried), with outstanding signal detection and locking / sync. digital Audio and Picture quality superb.
Fully networkable to rest of home network and internet. Easy to download plug-ins and add-ons and auto installs (with Hydra OS). Remote controllable from PC / PDA and if WiFi is available can change the channel being watched / listened to from another room via the browser based interface.
I haven't fitted a hard disk yet but is a sure thing to work as a recorder.
Network comms is slow despite 100Mbit Ethernet. Buggy software ? Hence recording to a network shared HDD will be unsatisfactory. Time zone correction is ok but with Hydra the years available from the transponder reads 2009 - 2015. Don't know what this is about.
Overall very pleased with the purchase. Extreme value for Aud $795.00 from Micronica International based in South Melbourne. |
