Opinion No. 1 By garble from Derbyshire [United Kingdom]
Pros: Pros: nice interface, good picture and sound built in CAM is great
Cons: Cons: Software not as good as DVB2000, problems working with Irdeto II CAM and unofficial card

Overall I'm impressed with the Humax VACI-5300. My previous receiver was a Nokia 9600s with DVB2000. The software on the Humax looks nicer and is fun to use but it isn't as fast as DVB2000 and not as configurable. The Humax has non of the channel overwriting problems of the built in Nokia 9600s software. In addition the Humax supports DisEqC 1.2, so it will control a motorised dish. I paid only 249GBP for mine at Myers Audio, some places charge 300GBP or even 350GBP for this model, don't pay these high prices. I nearly bought a 5400, but decided that long term this would be a bad investment as Irdeto II is replacing Irdeto I.

An excellent receiver for a very very interesting price. If you don't mind about Irdeto, the ultimate choice with an Aston CAM 1.05

The freeware settings software (i.e. SEOak) is great, and supplies to the poor interanl channel management.

I'm waiting to be able to test it with an HH motor and Diseqc 1.2
