Mission biefing: Achieve reset on demand in Humax IRCI 5400 embeded Irdeto
card reader.
Tools provided: soldering iron, solder, spare jack socket, shielded wires.
Notes: This modification can be done to All Humax Oak receivers.
Step 1: Disconect receiver from the main power source, open the box.and
locate PCB to the right of the main board - it is your Irdeto module.
Hint: Smart card reader is mounted on the bottom of the main board
PCB
Step 2: The soldering points 5 & 6 are responsible for card detection
in the reader.
Closing both points means there is no card in reader. Opening them means the
card is present.
Solder two shielded wires to both points.
Step 3: Grab an extra socket ( standard jack used in this example) and
connect the other ends of both wires to the socket.
Step 4: Drill a hole at the back of the receiver and fit the additional
socket in the hole.
Step 5: Make appropriate cable and connect standard 0/12V output at
the back of Humax receiver to your new socket.
Step 6: Go to your Humax menu and enable "0/12V Switch" setting
for one antenna/LNB. Set channel on this antenna to number 1111 - as it's easy
to press on remote controler.
Now you're done.
Testing:
Using remote switch channel to 1111 (the one you set your 0/12V signal to).
Response from the receiver should be as if the card was extracted.
Press "RCL" button returning to your previous channel. Respose from the receiver
should be as if the card was reinserted.
Practical use:
Main purpose would be resetting the embedded Irdeto CAM if it hangs.
However.
You may notice interesting behaviour when when using Season interface with test
software, for example HBEmu, in addition to so called IRCI 5400 AllCam patches.
Switch from Irdeto to any Seca channel. Press 1111 and then RCL on the remote
control.
CA menu now reads:
Now change to any betacrypt channel then press 1111 and RCL on remote. CA menu
reads:
The example above is for DIY training purposes only. Procedure described
will void your receiver warranty and is not a part of service nor supported
by Humax standard terms of use. Using any third party software to modify your
receiver may be against the law in your country.
Extra tip:
If you have a problem with your Humax receiver remote control you can try making
additional hole in its plastic cover. That should increase angle and improve
operating strength of this device.
