Flight 157 - HotBird7 and Stentor lost

Bad luck for satellite industry continues with Eutelsat loosing its new HotBird 7 satellite.

At 22:34 BST, just three minutes after lift off from Kourou in French Guyana Ariane 5 ESCA carrier craft burners cut out 124 km above the ground and exploded sending what was left from the cargo into the ocean.
The operator refused to reveal what its satellite was worth or name the insurers of the craft. Eutelsat spokeswoman, Vanessa O'Connor said no clients will be affected by the accident, as HotBird 7 was to replace HotBird 3 satellite which can operate for another 10 years.

Launch of HotBird7/Stentor shared payload was already delayed after anomaly during countdown on November 28. All Ariane 5 flights has been now been suspended.
