MTV one step from strike
After rejecting new employment terms and conditions, MTV staff were on the brink of strike action this week.
New terms and conditions, including among other things a cut in holiday leave by as much as 30% were impossible to digest by the majority of staff. Management issued a deadline of 22 February and warned employees they could face dismissal if they refused to sign. These unreasonable conditions were greeted with anger by MTV employees and a vote for industrial action was taken with full support from their broacast union Bectu. Apparently the Broadcast Services division voted against striking, effectively vetoing the whole action. To be continued?
