05 February - [Press] - La Tribune reckons French Canal Plus is slowly giving way to competition, accordingly to Merrill Lynch report in 2001 the group had 4.57 million subscribers in France, approx. 50 000 less than in 2000.
07 February - [Press] - Chairman of Spanish media group Prisa - Jesus de Polanco - says no negotiations were taking place to merge both Spanish digital platforms Canal Satelite Digital and Via Digital. We regret too.
07 February - [Web] - French online press states that TPS is to introduce its own encryption dubbed TPSCrypt at the end of March and beginning of April. Rollout of TPSCrypt is supposed to be absolutely transparent to users who already received new Viaccess cards this year.
08 February - [Press] - BSkyB announces it gained more than 218,000 new subscribers in the last quarter of 2001 and the total number of subscribers is now close to 5.7 million. BSkyB had also decided to write-off its 22% stake in the financially challenged German KirchPayTV.
10 February - [Press] - Norwegian newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv will report Monday morning "Telenor ASA considering sale, a reduction of its holding, or alliances with other partners for its satellite operations".
